2.2.1 JAYCEES -

  • Jaycee Senator
  • Sixteen years, 1972-1988 running Personal Life Planning/Career Planning Workshops for community clubs and groups

 

 

2.2.2 MAF -

  • Skilled negotiator/facilitator with many farm families going through debt reconstruction, exiting from farming and developing new careers 1986-1992.
  • Instigator of "Farming To Win" career and personal planning two day workshops for farming couples, sponsored nationally by MAF Policy (Grant McFadden).
  • Became Chairman of PSA Union when Government tried to force MAF Farm Consultants into a State Owned Enterprise.
  • Renegotiated, on behalf of staff, establishment of highly commercial Agriculture New Zealand.
  • Voted as one of two staff selected Advisory Board members on the Board of five appointed by Government to guide the establishment and running of Agriculture New Zealand - two years.
  • Facilitator on the Job Mapping workshops run for staff of MAF throughout New Zealand. Personal and career replanning

(a) Elected to become a trustee of the local Electric Power Board 1993-1995.

  • Major community debate re privatisation vs Trust vs Co-operative vs Friendly Society.
  • Two years involvement led to the establishment of a locally owned and operated Co-operative ownership structure for the Board.

(b) Tutor at Leadership/Motivation Seminars for Ashburton College Seventh Form Students - seven years.
